Under the guidance of Desiree Vatter, who brings a strong foundation in early education and the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we honor each child as a unique individual, capable of expressing themselves in a multitude of ways. We’re here to support their development in every step of their journey.

Desiree is the proud owner and operator of Elementals Preschool. She has spent several years honing her expertise in early childhood education, earning a master’s degree from The University of Colorado, Denver and The Boulder Journey School. Desiree’s passion for nurturing young minds is complemented by her understanding of Reggio Emilia-inspired pedagogy, which emphasizes the potential of every child to explore, create, and learn.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Desiree is a dedicated mother to three children: Adelyn (14), Rowen (13), and Abbott (9). She and her family share their home with a variety of pets, including dogs, cats, guinea pigs, bunnies, chickens, ducks, goats, chameleons, bearded dragons, and even Madagascar hissing cockroaches. Her children and pets provide a vibrant, supportive environment where learning, curiosity, and compassion thrive.
Desiree enjoys a balanced lifestyle, engaging in both indoor and outdoor activities. She loves hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, and taking walks with her dogs along the neighborhood roads. A lifelong resident of the area, Desiree grew up next door to Elementals and has spent countless hours exploring the trail system and the natural beauty of the surrounding forest. Her connection to the community and the outdoors is something she cherishes, and she shares this love for nature with the children she works with.
Master’s degree ‘Innovative Early Education’ University of Colorado, Denver Vermont Teaching License, Birth to Prekindergarten CPR & First Aid Certified Mandatory Reporter Teacher Sarah Wolff Sarah earned her Bachelor of Music Education from Keene State College in 2014 and has been sharing her passion for music with students ever since. With over a decade of teaching experience, she has worked primarily with elementary learners, while also teaching middle and high school band. Sarah believes deeply in the power of a supportive and safe classroom—one where students feel encouraged to explore, create, and grow into confident learners.She is thrilled to be joining the team at Elementals Preschool and looks forward to teaching, singing, and making meaningful connections with its young learners.Originally from central New Hampshire, Sarah has called Vermont home since 2015. She feels a strong connection to the state’s natural beauty and close-knit communities. Outside of teaching, you’ll often find her biking, hiking, gardening, or paddleboarding on Lake Champlain with her dog by her side. She’s also a devoted reader who never leaves home without a book—just in case.
